We are CJRB, a subsidiary of Artisan Cutlery Inc. Just like our parent company we strive to provide precision made tools that fit perfectly into our user’s lifestyle with a focus on quality, design, and function. We have designed the CJRB line of products with affordability and utility in mind which allows our customers to own a tool with the build quality and materials that Artisan Cutlery is known for at a pricepoint that is accessible to everyone. Ruffian J1924 AR-RPM9 Satin Black Product Features The Ruffian is our first CJRB model designed in collaboration with Dirk Pinkerton. This compact Wharncliffe style knife hits the perfect spot between three worlds, while the Ruffian may be small in size it cuts like a much bigger knife thanks to the wide blade that comes down to a razor thin edge. All together the Ruffian has something for every situation and will make itself right at home in your pocket. It’s a great lightweight EDC Knife with a 3” blade, slim G10 scales with inset liners, and a fidget-friendly thumb hole. It’s also an excellent backup tactical option in a pinch, the low profile and aggressive Wharncliffe blade make for easy concealment and effective use in emergency situations. It’s a perfect daily work knife, Our AR-RPM9 steel is tough enough to handle big tasks. Satin AR-RPM9 Powder Steel The Ruffian’s blade is constructed from our proprietary AR-RPM9 steel that perfectly blends edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening. This is the ideal option for an every day carry knife that will stay strong through all of your adventures. Cutting Profile The Ruffian’s wide Wharncliffe style blade is designed to maximize cutting power while minimizing overall edge length, meaning that even short cuts bite deep and separate materials with ease, making the 3” blade of this knife effectively do the work of much larger knives. The fine tip is ideal for piercing cuts and tipwork, and the slight angle to the blade adds just a little bit more versatility when working on a flat surface, helping to keep your fingers elevated away from the cutting surface. Additionally, the shape of the blade allows for very easy sharpening and maintenance Blade The Ruffian features a razor thin 0.11” thick blade stock which allows this knife to glide effortlessly through cuts with incredible accuracy. Coupled with the slim handles and aggressive milling the thin stock also helps to significantly cut down the overall weight of the knife. G10 Handle For people who want their knives to perform under any condition G10 is an excellent handle material option. G10 is temperature resistant, water resistant, non-reactive, non-conductive, and exceptionally tough under pressure. Designer Dirk Pinkerton is an established knife maker who has been designing for a wide array of knife companies for over a decade. His designs are distinguished by crisp lines, exceptional ergonomics, and blades that are practical and purpose driven. We’ve been very happy to work with Dirk over the last several years and the Ruffian is his first model in our CJRB line of knives, which we believe is a perfect fit, combining Dirk’s crisp, practical design language and CJRB quality to create an incredible value-oriented knife that performs flawlessly. Accessories Comfortable carry is a huge part of the Ruffian’s design, This knife features a four-position deep-carry pocket clip that disappears in any pants pocket and firmly affixes the knife in place. We’ve also included a discreet lanyard pin for those who prefer to use lanyards. The free-spinning pin keeps the lanyard freely accessible without disrupting the flow of the scales. This knife has been kicked around my Amazon shopping list for a while and I really dragged my feet because it looked like a big brute of a knife in the photos. I really wasn't looking for a big beefy wharncliffe knife, but the price on this knife was very low and i love my other CJRB knives in AR-RPM9 steel.I have the Tigris in 3 different colors ways because i love it so much. Its awesome flat grind is very slicy and zips through everything i cut with near zero resistance. While the Tigris is huge this Ruffian is petite by comparison. It has similar straight edge and full flat grind but the blade is much smaller and the blade stock is much thinner. So it slices even easier through just about any material. It has many if the same advantage of the Tigris in a low profile package. The knife scales are very thin as is the blade so it takes very little real estate in your pocket. The detent is very strong so if you flick the blade out with your middle finger the blade flies out quickly on the ball bearing pivot once you overcome that stiff detent. The only thing i do not like is the frame lock. Its very strong (hence the tight detent) and since the knife is so thin the space between the two scales is hard to access with my thumb. I wish they made this knife in a button lock or cross bar lock, but its not impossible and will probably get easier as the knife breaks in.
