I saw a you tube video where the guy that had these stated the importance of breaking them in. The manufacturers put extra diamond on them when made, knowing that some will be lost as they age. Once you start to use these, they will feel much finer than when you got them. The 1200 grit felt much more aggressive when I first got them, but now that I have used them quite a few times, they feel as they should. These are a budget friendly set of sharpening stones. Don't expect $300 quality for less than $20.I do feel that they are a great value for the price. Definitely would be great for sharpening old chisels or trying to restore a heavily worn blade. They have worked very nicely for my cheap set of knives going from a knife that would cut a grape to slicing thru without effort.Exactly what I needed and do the job well. The foam on the back of the stones is not really grippy on my formula counter top so I put them on a sheet of rubber mat. They are very thin, so it is a bit hard to use my normal technique. I would suggest raising them up on a block of wood or something of the like. Can't beat the price !Great for sharping any kniveThese are okay but their grit has to be way off. The 400 feels like 50. Not kidding. And the 1000 grit feels like maybe 200 at best. I can’t and won’t use them even on my work knife. I’ll save them for my axe/hatchet/ machete but yeah they are aggressive!!!The way the diamond layer is electroplated to metal plate is not of a quality that provides for long term use. These are the most inexpensive of all the diamond honing stones I've tried so far, and I'm ok with that because they work great. They are thin, so I epoxied them together so I have a single thicker stone with two different sides- it just made sense and worked better for me that way. Give them a try. For the price it's nearly impossible to beat.I bought these to sharpen montec style broadheads. The blades catch small pieces of whatever is embedded in these and negate whatever edge I may have started to develop. The product arrived on time and is a great sharpener to have handy.Makes anything razor sharp. Very simple and large enough to be easy. No risk of sliding and getting cut with this large hand sized sharpening plate. Bottom "sort of" sticks to tables which can be helpful. This is practical and a few knife snobs may criticise the grade, but this will make a blunt thing very sharp and I question what further practical benefit you would get from any other grade of sharpening stone/plate. This is plenty fine enough and a super super sharp thing would be as sharp as this thing can do, after a couple of cuts. From my experience it has far more to do with technique and angle and bevel than the grade of the plate. This will give you a decent consistent mirror look on steel if you use it right and maintain a consistent angle.Nothing to dislike. Would have purchased a set of 3 if they had been available. Would have liked a 3000 grit as well.Once you start using product you can tell that there are minor defects (high spots) in about 8mm-10mm increments, which makes it impossible to get consistent edge (feels like a bumpy road) I ordered the 600 & 1200 grit and both have same defect.. avoid these products.I mean it works but it is very cheapI wish it had a rubber baseI wish the base was thicker since you have to use it on the edge of the tableIch habe mir die Diamantschleifsteine mit 600 und 1200er Körnung zum ausprobieren geholt.
